Episode 2: Women, Politics & Elections in Zimbabwe
The focus of the second episode came at the backdrop of a heated discussion that gripped the Zimbabwean discourse following the allegations by former Sunday Mail editor Edmund Kudzayi on the Chairperson of the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission being involved in a sexual relationship with a Cabinet Minister from the ruling ZANUPF party. The critical question that was raised was whether this was misogyny or a clear case of conflict of interest. To broaden our understanding on this issue we invited former SA public protector Advocate Thuli Madonsela to discuss issues of ethics, integrity in public office and conflict of interest. Panel discussion with Brian Kagoro, Margaret Dongo and Nyaradzayi Gumbonzvanda followed – looking at the issue of women and politics more internally. Panelists characterized the 2018 election campaign in light of women and politics.
